We got a call out from a client in Wimbledon for onsite support / IT problems. The list of problems included internet connectivity issues, computer not responding well and unable to read anything from USB sticks or external storage devices. Our engineer went there and diagnosed the problem. The cause of all these problems linked to a Trojan (form of a virus) named Security Shield. This program had been installed unintentionally by the client when trying to install something else. You should be very careful when installing anything from the internet and make sure to untick any checkboxes that allow additional free programs to be installed. By ticking those checkboxes you give your consent to those annoying programs to be installed on your machine. Our engineer removed the Trojan and also run a full virus check. Problem solved.
